39. Flying Snake (Chrysopelea)

The paradise flying snake is a slender, mildly venomous tree snake with bright green and black markings, found in the rainforests of Southeast Asia. It can flatten its body into a ribbon shape and glide from tree to tree.
Adults over 35 are stunned by its aerial ability. By launching from a branch, it flattens its ribs, undulates in an S-shape, and glides up to 300 feet while steering mid-air. It doesn’t truly fly but performs controlled falls that look like magic. This graceful “flying” serpent proves that even animals without wings or limbs can master the air—leaving grown-ups more impressed than their kids watching nature documentaries.
